(ad) A Letter to July
Here's the story of this painting:
On a lonely July evening in 2015, right after I had finished high school, I sat on the balcony with my laptop and discovered a video series by @emilydianaruth. She wrote one-minute letters to July which were beautiful, warm, and thoughtful. At one point, she also involved her friends in the making of these videos and so it came to be that @jmeleemiller made the last one for Letters to July 2013. In her thumbnail, I saw this house, lit up by the late evening sun and the laundry dangling in the wind and I knew, that I had to paint it at one point.
And now, four years later, I did. During painting this piece, I binge-watched all three seasons of this little series again. It felt reminiscent, even though so much has changed. I am about to begin the last year of my masters degree, but the questions remain the same: Who am I? Who will I be? Where will I go? Is everything going to work out?
If you're feeling a bit melancholic and need to feel less alone, please watch Emily's series. It's truly magical.
