The caulking in my bathroom goes bad quick, even if it didn’t, caulk like this needs to be replaced every few years. Not on my watch! Bathroom modification! With a extra curtain rod set up parallel to the existing curtain rod, I lined the entire bathroom with two extra shower curtains. I noticed after, when taking a shower the wind brought up the layers of plastic curtains to the side of the wall. My first plan was to get a third curtain rod and place it halfway down the wall under the second in means to have it prevent the curtains from being lifted while taking a shower. I didn’t have a third curtain rod but I did have a cloth shower curtain that I layered on top of the plastic curtains layer on the wall. When wet the weight of the fabric shower curtain holds down any force from the wind. No more leaks through caulk or tile, dry floor underneath and a longer lifetime of this shower. In my opinion having a shower that doesn’t require caulk replacement routine maintenance is ideal. Another opinion of mine is building a bathroom that can withstand outdoor elements. Having a stand alone tub strong to the floor and a shower curtain that goes completely around the tub in circumference would prevent any routine maintenance that has to do with grout and caulk of walls getting wet and make repairs easier.
